Also check our facebook page for current details on the upcoming hike, cancellation info and what to bring on a day hike. Thank You!
Sunday January 27th
Hot Mamas and Papas “Work Off the Holiday Cookies” Hike: A long-overdue, post-holiday hike for 5 miles on The Nehantic Trail. We will hike rain, snow or shine unless sickness or injury prevents us so be prepared to enjoy a yucky day like you never have before with a bunch of crazy mamas having fun! Adults and children over ten years old only please.
Sunday February 10th
Kids Photography Hike: Gay City State Park 1-2.5 miles depending on the weather and ages of hiker-minis. There are a few nice trails that Cap’n J, Little D and the Mamas have explored and found to be very kid friendly. The kids love to follow the blazes themselves and we stop often to climb rocks and take photos of everything!! All ages welcome.
Sunday February 17th
Happy Valentine’s Day Hike for Hot Mamas and Papas: 6.4 Miles on the Pachaug Trail. Join us in our continued exploration of one of the area’s nicest trails for foot comfort. I haven’t done this section before, but so far the Pachaug Trail has shown my feet love (although not always my muscles) and offered many hidden treasures. We’ll hit a little Connecticut and Rhode Island on this hike and bring me a little closer to completing another beautiful blue blazed trail. Adults only please and we will hike rain or shine.
Sunday March 3
Bird Watching Kid Friendly Hike: Less than a mile on the Red Trail near Mansfield Hollow Lake. Bring a lunch and binoculars and we’ll stop for a long picnic and do some bird watching before the spring leaves block the best birds. All ages welcome.
Sunday March 10
Hot Mamas By The Lake Hike: 7-mile loop to the Massachusetts border on the Nipmuck Trail. This is a nice section of trail that I last hiked in the summer and really enjoyed. Expect it to be strenuous but full of beautiful water views. We’ll also come across a few campsites that you may want to come back and enjoy. Adults only please and we will hike rain or shine.
April 13 – 15th (Saturday – Monday) OR April 26th – 28 (Friday – Sunday)
Tentative 3-day backpacking trip (If you are interested in joining this hike please email us at hotmamahikers@yahoo.com)
Please note that we are not licensed guides, just a group of people who love the outdoors. Many of us are experienced hikers but some of us are just starting out; we are different shapes and sizes, and we support each other and share ideas when we meet up for hikes. Please bring plenty of water and food, proper clothing, emergency supplies and be prepared for anything to happen (just in case). If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us. We look forward to getting to know you!

This is a great idea! Pretty neat how it’s open to everyone, too. I haven’t spent much time in Connecticut, but based on your pictures, I’ll have to fix that. Have a good time hiking!
Thanks, it is beautiful out here! We like to get everyone who wants to get out but doesn’t want to do it alone a safe group to go out with.
Could you keep me posted for the 17th hike. Is there address I can GPS
You probably already did this but just in case…click on the orange letters and it will take you to a mapquest map of where to meet. You can either look around for an intersection to GPS to or search on your GPS for Beach Pond State Park in Rhode Island, which is how I think I found it on Mapquest. If this doesn’t help, my CT Walkbook gives these directions…Travel East on Routes 138 and 165, remaining straight on 165 as 138 bears right (I think this was the intersection that I used on my GPS when I ended my last hike at this parking area). Cross RI state line Beach Pond is on the left.
You can’t miss it once you see it. You cross over this skinny piece of land and then the parking area is on the left before you go up a hill.
If there is still too much snow to do this hike next weekend then we will postpone to the following weekend probably. Keep an eye on the facebook page as next weekend gets closer. We hope you can join us and if you have any more trouble finding the trailhead just let us know
